What is Computer Science?
Society uses computers on a daily basis, from communicating across the globe to researching important information. Without the use of computers, who even knows how different our lives would be. Computers have evolved from being large, bulky and impossible to carry around to being the size and weight of a small textbook. They did not just evolve on their own; there are people who dedicate many hours in order to study computers and invent ways to make them better. These people study the art of computer science.
Computer science involves studying the different ways to improve the technology in computers in order to make them faster and easier to use. It is more involved than just writing programs for new types of software, however. Computer scientists must use different principles and theories of application to access information to solve problems. These scientists have strong backgrounds in mathematics, science, and engineering; all three of these subjects are heavily involved in the process of computer science.
Scientists take certain mathematic equations and algorithms and will calculate rates of information transference and manipulation. They use this information to build computer systems that will increase the productivity of computers and make them run faster and store more information. This also includes making computers smaller and more portable while still holding a lot of information, which is how computers have decreased drastically in size since their creation in the 1930s and ‘40s.
In addition, they create computers that are more user-friendly. This involves thinking of creating different ways to make computers easier for everybody to use and access. For example, enabling voice recognition software makes it easier for those who cannot type to use computers.
Computer science is a field that enables you to be surfing the internet right now and stumbling across this article. It involves a team of very tech-savvy individuals who are interested in the thought-provoking activities that are used to create the most up-to-date modifications to computers worldwide.
